Down House owner Chris Cusack showed off his newest project, the renovation of Heights ice house D&T Drive Inn. As befits a space that's been a bar since the 1960s and was a grocery store before that, Cusack has completely redone the interior with all new wood and an expanded walk-in cooler. The new bar top is made from a tree that the crew cut down during the renovation. While walking through the space, the smell of freshly cut wood prevailed. In the backyard, Cusack anticipates new seating and games such as bocce ball or horseshoes.
Down House bartender Jason Moore will run D&T, which will feature 55 craft taps. There will also be a small food menu, which Cusack said will be modeled after the options at Midtown bar Mongoose versus Cobra. He expects the space to open in the next few weeks.
