Press critic Katharine Shilcutt realizes that Speedy Burger's claim to be the inventor of the ham-topped burger Hamburguesa Mexicana probably isn't true, but she likes the place enough to believe it anyway. On Twitter, Houstonia food editor Robb Walsh responded with a link to this post from 2009 in which he explores the Hamburguesa's roots in Monterrey, which seems like a more likely source for the dish.
