Shine's Car Care is Gone. Bring on CK's Steakhouse

CK Steakhouse took an important step towards becoming a reality this weekend when a crew demolished the former Shine's Car Care building. Co-owners Ronnie Killen and Hubcap Grill's Ricky Craig had planned to renovate the building, but the City of Houston found that the building was too low to comply with the floodplain. Tearing down and building new proved cheaper than raising the existing building, which explains the teardown.

Killen is hopeful that construction will begin in the next two to three months, but the usual caveats about permitting delays always apply.
