Raku Out in Midtown; Feast Closing June 14

Carl Rosa via Sushi Club of Houston/Facebook

Midtown sushi restaurant Raku closed last week. At 8:00 p.m. last night, the restaurant's doors were locked, the dining room was empty, uncollected mail was shoved under the door and the voicemail box was full. Sushi Club of Houston president Carl Rosa reported on that organization's Facebook page that he spoke to the building's management last week, and they also confirmed the restaurant has gone out of business. Curiously, no one seems to have told the company's social media team. Raku's twitter account continues to post about specials that no one will ever claim.

European comfort food restaurant Feast announced on Twitter last night that its last day of operations will be June 14, and that the restaurant's liquor license will expire on June 3. Back in November, the restaurant announced it would be closing August 1, but the timeline has accelerated. Chef/co-owner Richard Knight will open a yet-to-be named restaurant with Down House chef Benjy Mason in late 2013/early 2014. Co-owners James and Meagan Silk are moving to Brooklyn and looking for their next project.
