In this interview, Texas Monthly critic Patricia Sharpe discusses the process of assembling the magazine's newly updated list of Texas's top 50 barbecue joints. Asked about whether she looks forward to assembling the issue every five years, Sharpe responds

It's fun. It really is. The best part about it is getting out and driving through Texas. I know it sounds like such a cliché, but I love driving through Texas. I love to see these little towns. You get in touch with a part of Texas you don't see when you live in a big city.
