A Look Inside Recently Opened Katch 22

[Gary R Wise]

After two weeks in operation, sports and spirits restaurant Katch 22 is finally ready for its close-up. As seen in the pictures above, the decorations and details fit the "not your average sports bar" motif. Yes, there are TVs, but not so many they dominate the room. There's memorabilia on the walls, but framed jerseys are a cut above the usual "college pennants hanging from every available inch of ceiling" thing seen in other spots around town. Of course, the number 22 is found in a variety of spots; that reflects chef Kory Clemens's father Roger's number when he played professional baseball and the day co-owner Luke Mandola's son was born. The menu is a cut above, too, with a full selection of steaks, salads and even bacon-wrapped quail.

In this piece, Mandola compares his new venture to "an American style Carrabbas." Whether this restaurant catches on with diners in the same way as that institution remains to be seen.
