Eleven XI Restaurant & Bar opens for dinner service tonight in the former Bibas One's a Meal space on West Gray. Diners who remember stumbling into Bibas after a long night at Cecil's or PJ's will be stunned by the transformation that includes a new window to look into the kitchen and a long bar in the side room. Naturally, there are all new furnishings, fixtures and artwork, too. The giant patio remains intact and should make a fun late night spot thanks to the restaurant's generous hours.
As for the food, chef Kevin Bryant's menu might be considered Southern classics with a twist. For example, instead of fried chicken, there's a tea-smoked, fried game hen. Texas quail comes with wilted greens and gouda-spiked grits. Seafood options include a selection of oysters and a show-stopping whole roasted flounder. There are also house-made desserts, a cocktail menu and a solid selection of wines by the glass. It all adds up to an intriguing, ambitious new spot that's sure to draw plenty of attention.
Eleven XI is open for dinner from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday with a late night menu of bar bites available until 12:00 a.m. Friday hours are 3:00 p.m. until midnight for the kitchen with bar bites until 2:00 a.m. Saturday hours are 3:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. for the kitchen with bar bites until 2:00 a.m. Lunch service will follow soon. Closed Sunday and Monday.
