0624Marene.jpgIt really grinds CultureMap writer Marene Gustin's gears when waiters violate the five "commandments" she developed when working as a waitress in college and while eating out a lot. They include presenting the specials in a way that makes them "sound enticing" even if "you know exactly what I came in here for," although that would seem to be in conflict with "Do not upsell me." She also writes that "I always tip 20 percent" but that servers "will get a better tip if you don't rush the check." Isn't it one or the other? [CultureMap]
