The owners of Jus' Mac know what makes Southern comfort food so alluring. Maybe that's why Patrick and Kimberly Alvarez are forging ahead with franchise plans for their macaroni and cheese-centric establishment and planning a Cracker-Barrel-meets-grandma's-house breakfast series.
Although Jus' Mac's third location at 106 Westheimer was supposed to open weeks ago, the 32-tap draft system they had planned created a few setbacks, so they scrapped that idea but still promise to deliver a better craft beer selection at this Jus' Mac. It's likely that it will be up and running before the end of the month, city permits allowing.
With the Sugar Land location nearing the 2-year mark and the original Heights location about to celebrate its 3-year anniversary in October, this third locale will debut just before the Jus' Mac "Deep South Eats" morning menu program is finalized.
Before you start thinking Mac shouldn't deviate from its singular comfort food focus, it bears mentioning that this breakfast spread will feature bananas foster waffles, beer waffles, ginger waffles and mac and cheese biscuits. Also on the upcoming menu: poached eggs, crab legs, venison sausage patties and fried chicken. Certainly an extensive spread for a restaurant that rose to fame because of its one comfort food staple.
"It's going to be a fun place to eat for breakfast," Patrick tells Eater.
As far as the franchise plans go, the pair hope to expand to different cities and are currently pre-qualifying those interested in owning or operating a Jus' Mac franchise.
About the expansion Alvarez says, "Having three Jus' Macs in 3 years is a true blessing and we never guessed it would be embraced to this extent."
