There's a new taco franchise in town that is invading Houston suburbs and attempting to give Torchy's a run for its money. For that comfort-meets-contemporary fare that is beginning to characterize the modern Mexican options becoming prevalent around town, Texas Taco Co. seeks to offer diners another option.
The Texas Taco Co. will be opening at 400 W. Parkwood Ave. in Friendswood this September. It will be the third Houston-area location, with the others in Magnolia and Baytown. For a young, burgeoning franchise, this chain's menu looks oddly similar to Torchy's. Even the menu's layout looks similar, and the ingredients in the tortilla or lettuce-wrapped bundles are comparable. The difference will likely be the quality as compared to the Austin-launched chain, for better or worse.
