It's not yet completed, but Osteria Mazzantini already looks like a place well suited for conversation. An exposed brick wall with a banner painted across it will greet guests, and the color scheme and signage indicate that this will be a warm, welcoming space. In what is already one of the most anticipated openings of the fall, Mazzantini has set a tentative soft opening date. Originally slated for a mid-August opening, a rep for the restaurant gives Eater a new expected date.
"The equipment is all in and waiting for final approval by the city, and chairs and tables to come tomorrow if all goes as planned," representative for the restaurant Paula Murphy says. "Then training begins and they are hoping for Labor Day as the opening day."

While the doors aren't yet open, the restaurant has already garnered much trust because Mockingbird's reputable chef John Sheely is at the helm of this project. Osteria Mazzantini is located at located at 2200 Post Oak Blvd., in the new BBVA Compass building on Post Oak, and will have chef Paul K. Lewis on board. Here is a sneak peek of the menu.
