Last Week to Eat Cheap for Charity; Last Week to Vote

1) It's the last week to enjoy a discounted, several-course meal for Houston Restaurant Weeks. With several late additions, there might be some spots you' haven't visited, but you still have until September 2nd. Approximately $1.2 million was raised for the Houston Food Bank last year, and we're optimistic that this year may have topped that since so many restaurants have been added on at the last minute and because of the annual foodie charity's growing popularity. Again, we urge diners to be a little more patient when dining at a participant's spot, since industry folk are working longer hours with many more customers.
2) If you haven't voted for the best restaurants, chefs, bartenders and food trucks for this year's My Table Houston Culinary Awards: You need to get on it because this is the last week to tell Houstonians where and what to eat and drink. Voting will end on August 31 at 11:59 pm. That might be why you've seen the Facebook posts and tweets from local chefs and restaurants pleading for your vote. This year's ceremony will take place on October 6 at the Houstonian, tickets are still up for purchase.
