Greg Morago from Houston Chronicle reports on the new Morton's spinoff in The Woodlands. This will be the more casual sibling to prior concepts from the prestigious brand. It follows in the trend of high-end establishments opening laid-back versions of their upscale spots. Whether you consider this a big chain merely capitalizing on its name, or if you're a fan of the movement, it's a way to sample their food and drinks at relatively lower prices. Morago writes: "There's a "50 under $50" bottled wine menu and the bar will have its own craft cocktail program. The bar menu includes two unique "punch bowl" drinks meant to serve 4 to 6 people. One of the big libations is called Punch in the Face and features a mix of mezcal, lime, honey, ginger ale, oranges and muddled jalapeno pepper. It is poured into ice-filled glasses garnished with jalapeno and a strip of bacon, meant to play off the smoky nature of mezcal."
