With an extensive list of national accolades, The Pass & Provisions has already garnered more media attention since its September 2012 opening than any other Houston restaurant that's opened in the last year. And that's not likely to change any time soon.
Bon Appétit has named it one of this year's 50 Best New Restaurant Nominees. It's in the running for 10 Best New Restaurants of 2013 and Best New Restaurant in America, both of which will be announced on August 14. The Pass and Provisions is the only competitor out of Houston and one of six from Texas.
Andrew Knowlton, who compiled the list, was intrigued by the restaurant's layout. The space is bisected by an industrial-style foyer, creating two segments in which to dine. It is divided into casual bar-bite zone (Provisions) and formal dining room (Pass), so that guests can choose whether they want a laid-back dinner or an elaborate tasting-menu option.
Other Texas restaurants that made the list are Austin's Ramen Tatsu-Ya and Dallas' FT 33, Jeffrey's and Josephine House and Spoon Bar & Kitchen.
