SnowBlock Shavery Opening in Rice Village

Asiatown's Juice Box might be the Houston summer's only saving grace. Serving up large bowls of shaved ice topped with ice cream, fruit and a generous slathering of condensed milk, it's always worth the drive to the tiny Bellaire shop. (Especially because Japanese random-goods store Fit is just across the parking lot!)

But Inner Loopers who don't want to drive far will be happy to know that the the Rice Village will soon have its own version of this dressed-up shaved ice purveyor. SnowBlock Shavery will be opening at 2518 Rice Blvd., inside The Village Shopping Center. The 1400-square-foot space's renovation is nearing completion and the signage is up. As a teaser, the owners have been documenting the heat-friendly desserts they've already started preparing.
