The Pass and Provisions Turns One

While at first some locals were skeptical about the place that would replace Gravitas on Taft, those sentiments quickly faded as The Pass & Provisions started to take shape and revealed an innovative menu and restaurant layout. The space, which is bisected by a pendant-lit foyer, is divided into The Pass, a formal dining area featuring a tasting menu and Provisions, a more casual bar-centric space with full dishes and service. They're both innovative, fun and although they weigh more heavily on the upscale side, The Pass & Provisions is definitely more laid-back than the Mark's –type places in Houston. And for just one year in, this spot has already collected a number of national awards, including being No. 6 on the list of Bon Appétit's Best New Restaurants in America 2013.

To celebrate their first year in business, owners Seth Siegel-Gardner and Terrence Gallivan are throwing their place a birthday party tonight (September 16). This "walk-around cocktail party" will feature live music, "Ham and Eggs" from The Pass, pizza, suckling pig, oysters, ham of the day from slicer and fresh-baked breads among other popular P&P fare. It all goes down tonight (September 16) from 6 to 9 p.m., tickets are $60 per person. Call (713) 628-9020 to reserve tickets, or just purchase them at the door.
