Deen Comes to Houston for Her First Public Appearance Since the Scandal

Eric Sauseda/Groovehouse

This past weekend, the Metro Cooking and Entertaining Show may as well have been known as the Paula Deen Show. Throngs of Houston fans welcomed her back, as Deen made her first public appearance since leaked deposition records revealed that she'd admitted to using racial slurs. The celebrity took center stage in front of emotional fans, and cardboard cut-outs of Deen surrounded a massive convention hall display full of her products. Former Eater Houston editor Amber Ambrose attended the show and spoke with Deen's fans, some of whom doled out $400 for VIP seats.
