IKEA Ramen Champ Lyle Bento's Pop-Up; Chefs Compete

MONTROSE— After winning the IKEA Ramen Challenge heard 'round the world, Lyle Bento of Underbelly has decided to reproduce his Korean-flavored ramen dish (budae jjigae) at a pop-up this weekend at Bar Boheme. This might be your last chance to taste the champion ramen dish, so even though the event is this Sunday (September 22) from 7 to 9 p.m., you'll want to get there early to make sure you get a bowl. The bar is donating the event's proceeds to The Black Lab Theater to help produce an upcoming show. [Eaterwire]

DOWNTOWN— This Saturday (September 21), some of Houston's most celebrated chefs will compete at Discovery Green for Ready Houston's event to draw awareness to regional disaster preparedeness. Chefs will be equipped with basic pantry supplies and asked to impress the crowd with few ingredients and tools. Judges will decide which chef came up with the most creative dish. The event begins at 11 a.m. and admission is free. [Eaterwire]

PIZZA WIRE— Eater National originally reported on the detestable Pizza Hut cheeseburger pizza over in the Middle East. Now it seems this pizza (which looks like an April Fool's joke gone terribly wrong) is moving west with a UK version. Let's hope that's the extent of its reach. [Eaterwire]
