Food Trucks and Shopping; Vegans Against Starbucks

HEIGHTS— Tomorrow (September 27) is Food Truck Friday in the Heights. Head to 19th Street to sample food from Happy Endings, Flip 'n Patties, Pi Pizza Truck, Bernie's and several other mobile eateries. They'll be serving up food from 5 to 9 p.m. while you visit the neighborhood shops in that area. [Eaterwire]

VEGAN WIRE— A group of vegans are petitioning to have Starbucks make a non-dairy iteration of its popular Pumpkin Spice Latte, and it appears to be an approach that's worked in the past: "This isn't the first time Starbucks has incurred vegan wrath. Last year, vegans petitioned the coffee giant to stop using food dye made from crushed beetles and Starbucks ultimately stopped using it." [-EN-]

TRAVEL WIREHouston Press' Molly Dunn writes about a group of Houstonians who traveled to Japan to experience its food and culture: "Rosa led the group through six cities, including Narita, Tokyo, Mishima and Kyoto, for 11 days, but didn't confine them to a strict itinerary. He did, however, plan a multitude of special activities, including a dinner at the famous Sukiyabashi Jiro restaurant and a hike to the top of Mt. Fuji." [Houston Press]
