After decades of living in Houston and missing their Italian lifestyles — cannoli and espresso included — Paolo Fronza and Salvatore Albelice decided that they would bring Italy to Houston. They're opening Fellini Caffè in the Rice Village this Monday (September 30), when they will begin their regular business hours running from 6 a.m. to around 9 p.m. But locals won't have to wait until then to sample the coffee, food and cocktails because the new establishment's launch is today. They'll be debuting their spread with a aperitivo reception featuring the rosticceria options that they look forward to serving regularly. That soft opening is tonight (September 26) from 5 to 8 p.m. Fronza and his partner tell Eater that they'll be taking a brief break after tonight's reception, so that they can have a strong first day in business come Monday morning. After flying in an Italian bar, installing a world-class espresso machine and taste testing several cannoli, they're confident that they'll bring European flair to the city. As Fronza told Eater earlier this month: "The concept is to be as authentic as possible; we're both Italians and in terms of what we serve, we want to be as Italian as possible."
