The brains behind BRC, Liberty Kitchen and Petite Sweets, Lance Fegen, Lee Ellis and Travis Lenig, have been working on their latest spot Liberty Kitchen & Oysterette for some time now. This new concept will occupy the space that once housed Vida, a short-lived Tex-Mex restaurant. Although they were hoping to open sooner, a recent road closure caused by construction has forced them to postpone their opening date indefinitely. The San Felipe Street Bridge has been demolished to be re-built, and will take an estimated two weeks to complete. Since that's just a tentative construction time frame, and since customer access to the restaurant would be severely obstructed due to that process, there's no telling when this highly-anticipated restaurant will be open.
Although with all of their current projects, including BRC's recent new menu debut, this delay might not have come at the worst time. As far as this upcoming concept, get ready to have grilled oysters and fried chicken; in an interview late last year, the owners said that the "oyster bar is going to have a small kitchen with its own grill and its own hood. We're going to grill oysters." Stay tuned for opening dates and a complete gallery of this new Galleria-area spot.
