LAST CHANCE— Don't miss out on a $26 dollar ticket that buys unlimited samples of some of the best barbecue in the state with two pints of some of the best beer made in Houston. Today (Jan. 29) is the last day to purchase tickets to Saint Arnold Brewing Co.'s BBQ Block Party featuring Louie Mueller Barbecue's legendary beef ribs, brisket and links personally delivered by third-generation owner/pitmaster Wayne Mueller. Fluff Bake Bar's Rebecca Masson will be on hand with desserts. Some Super Bowl takeout options are up for grabs too, more info on that here. Buy tickets to the event here now, since there won't be any available at the gate. [Eaterwire]

RIVER OAKS— After a weekend sneak peek, the place formerly known as the make-out bar, Marfreless, is officially opening to the public this Friday (Jan. 31) at 7 p.m. There's been plenty of discussion over the major changes to anticipate, but some aren't so skeptical. Check it out this weekend and let Eater know if it's an improvement. [Eaterwire]

GREENWAY— Just when locals thought they were safe from the trendy cronut, Houston's receiving a fresh batch. But this won't be just any cronut, it'll be a fancy-schmancy version from upscale restaurant Tony's. Earlier today, Tony Vallone tweeted that they have brought back the infamous pastry hybrid, "served with a trio of dipping sauces." Will there be a local food trend resurrection? [Twitter]
