New Café In Vintage Park Opens With Free Tastings

Instead of just opening to the public with media tastings, Another Broken Egg Café is welcoming locals to its new Vintage Park location with a series of charitable events before its official public debut. Starting Jan. 16, the area's newest brunch restaurant will hold free dinners for those willing to make monetary donations to some local organizations. The first recipient is the Houston Food Bank, whose tasting will be Jan. 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the second is St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at Jan. 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and the third is the Houston SPCA on Jan. 18 from 9:00 p.m. a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Those organizations will benefit from the reveal of this Southern breakfast food place and its first location in Houston. The menu centers around basic breakfast comfort food (think sweet potato pancakes, southern crabstack and biscuit beignets) with some healthier items, too (think fruit and quinoa and gluten-free pancakes). Locals are asked to decide for themselves whether the place is worth a second, paying visit by donating cash, check or credit card to support each event and enjoying a "free" meal. Call ahead (281-257-3447) to ensure a seat. If you're heading here after these initial tastings, keep in mind that they're open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day.
