Months ago, it was announced that chef Philippe Schmit would leave his eponymous Galleria-area restaurant. Not too long after, that establishment's respected sommelier Vanessa Trevino Boyd parted ways too, joining the team at 60 Degrees Mastercrafted, right after Phillipe's general manager Dallas Easterly announced that they would completely revamp the French restaurant's menu. Executive chef Manuel Pucha crafted an Americanized list of options and presented them to the public, but now the Chronicle's Greg Morago reports that the entire establishment will follow suit in the coming months. Philippe will close to the public on Jan. 11 to reopen as Table in March with another menu and a complete interior design overhaul. Morago writes that the "upstairs dining room will be redesigned with an emphasis on a more lively bar area," and that Pucha's "new menu is described as having a appreciation for contemporary styles and bold flavors with an emphasis on showcasing seasonal ingredients and twists on American favorites." In between all of those changes at this Post Oak spot, Schmit will be working on a new project. No word yet on the concept, timeline or location.
