Meet Beckrew Wine House, the Wine Bar Replacing The Tasting Room in River Oaks

The Tasting Room will close its original location in River Oaks in November, making way for another wine bar to emerge.

After a six month stay on the market, The Tasting Room location in River Oaks has sold its lease to a new buyer. The Houston Chronicle broke the news last week, signaling the end to The Tasting Room's first location. Jonathan Horowitz, chief brand officer and partner at Lasco Enterprises - parent company of The Tasting Room and Max's Wine Dive - tells Houston Chronicle, "the small River Oaks store, the company said, did "not align" with the other more sizable Tasting Room locations."

No need to fret oenophiles. While Horowitz directs his focus on possible Max's Wine Dive locations in Houston, another wine bar concept will take its space.

Beckrew Wine House will replace The Tasting Room at River Oaks after the Upper Kirby bar closes in mid-November. "Lasco has done a great job with the Tasting Room," says Beckrew's principal investor Chris David, "we are really excited about this opportunity."

David is working to create an inviting atmosphere by making over the space. Wine lovers can also expect a quality wine list curated by William Fuller, general manager and wine director of Beckrew Wine House. David tells Eater Houston, "the wine program will feature a number of small vineyard selections, but we will also provide a few of the favorites for those who simply want a glass of wine." The wine bar will also offer small Italian-inspired bites to pair with its wine.
