Once a month, chef Mark Holley of Holley's Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar prepares a feast. Never been? You're not alone. The dinners are exclusive, so much so, those lucky enough to receive an invitation but wait too long to place their reservation are often turned away
So what's the fuss about? Fried chicken with all the fixings (sides and dessert), served family-style and it's glorious.
Holley's fried fowl is a vision of beauty that's not only a sight to behold but devour to the bone. And for $300 a table, you too can take part of this privileged event. Holley is opening his invite-only dinners held on the last Sunday of each month to the public. The bad news is the dinners are in such high demand that October, November and December are completely booked. The good news, reservations are open with limited seating for January 31 between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Some restrictions apply of course. Tables include six, so there must be a minimum of six people per reservation (that's $50 a person), reserved at least two weeks in advance and requires a pre-payment. Cocktails and wine are additional. If you're going for the complete baller package, go all out by ending the night doing what the elite would do: sip a rare whiskey for $750 a shot.
