El Tiempo 1308 Cantina May Possibly Move From Montrose Blvd Address

There could be one less cantina in Montrose soon.

With the impending closing of Hollywood Vietnamese & Chinese Cuisine, another Montrose favorite could be facing the same fate. Houston Chronicle's Greg Morago reports El Tiempo 1308 Cantina may possibly close in the coming months. Like Hollywood, the El Tiempo 1308 Cantina property is being sold to make way for high-rise development.

Through a representative with El Tiempo, owner and operator of El Tiempo's restaurants, Roland Laurenzo, sent the following email statement to Eater Houston:

1308 may and probably will be moving next year (first quarter sometime) due to the fact that  the land underneath the restaurant  is being sold by our landlord for a multistory apartment project development. We hope to move into another spot generally in  the same neighborhood within a mile or so if we can do so and we do have a couple prospective spots but too soon to announce any prospects.

Thank you, Roland Laurenzo

The good news is the Tex-Mex restaurant will not close entirely but will relocate. The bad news, Montrose could be without one of its defining and beloved dining/partying hotspots. Montrose is getting less weird with each new day.
