The end is near for a Montrose late night spot. Details of a full-block apartment complex were leaked in August, showing the homes would replace Hollywood Vietnamese & Chinese Cuisine at 2409 Montrose Boulevard. A tipster told the real estate blog Swamplot the restaurant was expected to close at the end of the month. That was in August and the casual Asian restaurant remains open.
Staff at Hollywood Vietnamese & Chinese Cuisine have given Eater Houston multiple closing dates since August. The restaurant was anticipated to close at the end of September, then a different date was provided a week later. Every week for three months, closing dates have come and gone, leaving more time for customers to enjoy the Montrose eatery a while longer. That's all set to change this month.
Hollywood Vietnamese & Chinese Cuisine officially notified customers recently of their impending closing with a posted sign near the entrance:
We would like to thank all of you for your continued patronage and support of Hollywood Vietnamese and Chinese Cuisine.
We regret to inform you that we will be closing our doors at the end of November.
Despite signs displayed on the doors inside, multiple staff confirm the last day of business is November 26, the day before Thanksgiving — which still leaves plenty of time for one last hurrah at the Montrose and Fairview restaurant.
Don't worry too much about the closing, it's only temporary. Hollywood Vietnamese & Chinese Cuisine will relocate to its original location at 2409 Grant, Ste D. The restaurant moved to its current address in 2007, replacing Cafe Noche. An expected opening date is set for spring 2015.
