Spanky’s Pizza closed the doors to its restaurant after extensive fire damage in September, but is on course to reopen in December, as previously reported by Houston Press. The Southeast Houston restaurant has been a staple in the area since 1976. Yesterday, Spanky's Pizza released a picture showing the progress of their new location, shuttered Gabby's BBQ around the corner at 4659 Telephone Rd.

Swamplot reports Gabby's BBQ and Spanky's are owned by the same people. After relocating from its former digs at 7210 South Loop E, Spanky's Pizza will go by a new name: Spanky's Pizza, Pasta, and Amore.
