Lance Fegen and restaurant group F.E.E.D. TX are coming to rescue The El Cantina Superior from an early demise, reports Houston Chronicle. The group will take over daily operations and revamp the menu. Originally owned by Delicious Concepts a restaurant group from Ken Bridges responsible for Pinks Pizza, Witchcraft Tavern & Provision Co. and other concepts in the Heights and Oak Forest/ Garden Oaks neighborhoods there were high hopes for the quirky south-of-the-border restaurant when it opened this summer. Those hopes went south of the border quickly when disappointment regarding the quality and preparation of the food served arose.

The Chronicle notes "Fegen is creating an entirely new menu for The El, which will include Tex-Mex dishes but will also embrace international and coastal flavors, and eventually smoked meats." This sounds like it could be a step in the right direction to save a struggling restaurant.
