In just a few short days, Ladybirds, the bar replacing The Usual, opens in the Cottage Grove neighborhood. Brothers and first-time bar owners Taylor and Darin Lee have kept themselves busy with construction and last minute details that includes a new partner.
The brothers recently joined forces with Charles Bishop of Liberty Station and Cottonwood. Bishop, along with Lyle Bento of forthcoming Southern restaurant and bar Southern Goods, will serve as operating partners, says Taylor Lee who revealed the plans to Eater over the weekend. Bishop confirmed his involvement on Facebook yesterday.
In addition to local beers on tap and ice troughs, CultureMap reports Bento is bringing his cooking expertise to develop a menu, sticking to the bar's Americana theme. Burgers and wings will be included with nightly specials served from a food truck. A possible partnership with Buffalo Bayou Brewery could be in the works, Bishop notes to Culturemap. "Since the bar is so close to Buffalo Bayou Brewery, Bishop says he's exploring ways that Ladybirds could serve as the brewery's unofficial taproom."
