The Heights is booming. Two new southern fried chicken concepts within the last four months, a forthcoming sushi restaurant and now word from Swamplot that Treadsack, a Heights-based restaurant group, is adding on to its growing mini empire — which includes Down House and D & T Drive Inn.
Last month, Swamplot reported a Facebook posting from The Boom Boom Room about its impending closing. Jackie Harris, owner of the wine bar and music venue at 2518 Yale, left Houstonians guessing who will take over the space when she teased, "a 'great new restaurant-bar' — one run by 'real good Heights–Montrose restaurant people you all know and love' — will be setting up shop at the location in the not-too-distant future." Industry insiders dished to Houston Press the Treadsack group leased the property, but it wasn't confirmed until Swamplot broke the news this afternoon.
The restaurant group will open a bar named Johnny's Gold Brick with established bar owners Brad Moore and Ryan Rouse (Grand Prize Bar and Moving Sidewalk to name a few). Also on board, Leslie Ross who recently left Triniti's Sanctuari Bar to manage bar operations for the upcoming venture.
