While the Heights undergoes a fried chicken revival, residents will soon have an abundance of caffeine options in their neighborhood.

  • Local real estate blog Swamplot is reporting that White Linens Night in the Heights won't be the only New Orleans import to grace the neighborhood. PJ's Coffee of New Orleans is opening in the area ⸺ technically it's in Cottage Grove on the corner of Larkin and Durham. This location will be the second in Houston, the first being inside Royal Sonesta Hotel in the Galleria. Swamplot notes, the Louisiana coffee chain is "just across the Katy Fwy. from looming competition in the form of a strip-mall Starbucks."

  • Looks like the little blue bungalow at 1030 Heights Blvd, once home to Waldo's Coffee House and the rebranded Boulevard Coffee has a new occupant. Heights residents will soon welcome Equilibrium Social House. Details are scarce and it's unknown whether former owner Ron Lopes is involved, but the coffee shop created this Twitter account a day before Boulevard Coffee closed. Earlier this week, the forthcoming coffee house shared the following picture on Instagram:





  • Briefly mentioned last month, the owners of the former lesbian bar, The Usual, are planning a coffee shop that will double as a bar at 305 W 20th. The coffee bar shared blueprints of the forthcoming project this summer to be named The Usual Cup of Joe and Mo'.
