The annual best new bars and restaurants lists have been released by Texas Monthly, and six Houston spots are included. Both Osteria Mazzantini and The Pass are among the Top Ten Restaurants in Texas. John Sheely's Osteria Mazzantini (No. 3) opened in the fall of last year, and has been garnering praise from critics ever since. Terrence Gallivan and Seth Siegel-Gardner's The Pass (No. 6) has been open for a year now, and it shares a space with its casual sibling establishment, Provisions.
On the top bars list are all downtown establishments that are part of the new super-block: Bad News Bar, Goro & Gun (No. 5 & 6, respectively), Original Okra Charity Saloon and The Pastry War. The issue hits stands this Thursday, but see the list online here now.
