The Honeymoon Is Set to Open Downtown This Spring

Montrose may be the most caffeinated part of town, with an abundance of great indie coffee shops in and around the neighborhood. (Including one that's soon to open, Siphon Coffee.) At the same time, it seemed that downtown was the booziest new destination, with the super-block of new bars. (Including upcoming lounge The Nightingale Room.) Now it seems that the two areas will be combining the best of both ends of the spectrum with this spring's The Honeymoon, an upcoming coffee shop, bake bar and cocktail spot being opened by Brad Moore and Ryan Rouse as well as Boomtown Coffee's Matthew Toomey and Charlotte Mitchell. Together, these owners are calling in specialty pros to make this New Orleans-style place a one-stop shop for the best baked goods and cocktails. Apart from the Slayer Espresso machine-made coffee, a cocktail menu will be crafted by Bad News Bar's Justin Burrow and former Brasserie 19 chef Amanda McGraw (who has also done some consulting for the aforementioned Siphon Coffee) will be in charge of the baked goods. CultureMap reports that The Honeymoon should be opening in the building that once housed Cielo sometime before April.

Moore tells Eater that locals are welcome to sample some of McGraw's Honeymoon treats at Boomtown Coffee this Thursday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
