The Taco Milagro signage might still be up, but the interior at 2555 Kirby is definitely looking more like Local Foods. The Rice Village sandwich shop has earned a massive following thanks to creative gourmet sandwiches and fresh, high quality sides. (The Crunchy Chicken alone is an addictive Houston staple.) Local Foods owner Benjy Levit took over the Milagro space late last summer and has been transforming it ever since. Levit, who also owns both Benjy's locations, hired Frasier Homes—the same company that built the Rice Village location—to transform this space, and Found for the Home's Aaron Rambo to design the interior. The project manager for Jarred Pruitt tells Eater that construction at that space should be completely done in about two weeks, and an employee at the original Local Foods says that the opening shouldn't be too far behind that completion date. They're currently looking to hire staff, so check back for an official opening date. Here now, see the progress at the second Local Foods location:
