Big Banh Mi Eating Competition; Art With Deep Eddy

EAST ENDCafe TH is hosting this year's Zombie Eating Challenge on Saturday, February 8. Competitive eaters will be challenged with a 22-inch long, almost-five-pound banh mi comprised of "very ingredient Cafe TH has to offer including spicy jalapeno peppers, cilantro, eggs, pork meatballs, pate, steamed pork, bacon, char-grilled chicken, char-grilled pork and more." Participants must consume the massive sandwich in 30 minutes or less. There's still room for one more competitor, and the first person to email the restaurant here describing the largest meal he or she's had in the past year will get the last slot at the 6 p.m. event. CITYCENTRE— Austin-based vodka company Deep Eddy is sponsoring a giant art exhibit, BISOU tonight (Feb. 7) and tomorrow night (Feb. 8) at 7 p.m. in CityCentre's BeHUMAN Gallery. Several local artists will be displaying their work, and guests will receive complimentary cocktails until 11 p.m. [Eaterwire]

GALLERIA— Consider this a reminder that brunch service officially kicks off this weekend (Feb. 9) at Caracol. Look for cocteles, oven-roasted oysters, seafood-stuffed poblanos and wood-roasted bycatch and other fish. Traditional Mexican breakfast items like chilaquiles, migas and chorizo and egg tostadas will also be available, alongside some boozy breakfast drinks.
