Soon after the friends and family soft opening tonight and this weekend, the long awaited Punk's Simple Southern Food will officially open to the public on Monday, March 24. The latest establishment from Clark Cooper Concepts—an ownership group helmed by restaurateurs Grant Cooper, Charles Clark and the estimable chef Brandi Key—this place will be a rustic-contemporary eatery that pays homage to the Southern culture. Everything from the menu and décor, to the Southern hospitality the staff has been training to perfect over the last few weeks, it's going to be down-home eating with the polish of a Rice Village restaurant. Punk's will share a characteristic with its neighboring sister establishment Coppa Osteria in the form of a to-go window, only this walk-up won't offer pizza but fried chicken. But we doubt you'll want to take your biscuit, bird and pimento cheese spread home when they have an inviting covered patio and—of course—plenty of freshly baked pies for dessert. Check back next week for a full gallery inside the space and for a complete look at the menu.
