A Houston Chef Will be on Esquire TV's Knife Fight

New, 2 comments

Underbelly's Chris Shepherd is a busy man. Apart from being this close to celebrating Underbelly's second anniversary (more on that soon, in an Eater chat with the celebrated chef), he's also been preparing for Austin Food & Wine Fest's "Rock Your Taco", updating the Hay Merchant menu, revving up for the Waffle House Smackdown, helping Texas Monthly with spreads and being named a James Beard Award semifinalist. Now the Houston chef will also competing in Esquire Network's Knife Fight, where he will be battling it out with Los Angeles-based Tripel/Hudson House chef Brooke Williamson in an episode scheduled to air this April 22.

Shepherd was interested to do the show because it has "a more real, authentic feel than some of the other shows." He also liked that it stemmed from an after-hours competition between Top Chef season 2 winner Ilan Hall and that chef's friends. Like its first season, Hall will host this series of timed cooking battles at his Los Angeles restaurant The Gorbals. See the complete national line-up of chefs here.
