Grand Opening at Downtown Michael's Cookie Jar

Local bake shop Michael's Cookie Jar has officially moved into the downtown tunnel system at Penzoil Place, and owner Michael Savino is ready to celebrate alongside other local business owners. Next Friday (March 14) will be the official grand opening celebration, and the first 50 guests to arrive will receive swag bags. There will also be a raffle offering guests the chance to win a year's worth of cookies. In addition to opening day goodies, a portion of that day's sales will benefit downtown charity Star of Hope. Savino has also invited many local vendors to the event, including Araya Chocolate, Caphin Iced Vietnamese Coffee, Katz Coffee and Mill King Dairy.

The company has been around since 2006, and Savino's original four-year-old Weslayan location will continue to supply this tiny new 630-square-foot downtown outpost for now. The new spot, like his original store, will also offer a delivery service.
