Community Bands Together to Help Jody Stevens

Jodycakes' Jody Stevens lost her home and belongings to a fire on Wednesday, and the food community is coming together to help her rebuild. Help by donating here: GiveForward, or by heading to one of the local fundraising events taking place this weekend.

May 4 at Paulie's, Houstonia's Katharine Shilcutt will co-host a fundraising event with some industry friends, including Goro & Gun owner Joshua Martinez. Shilcutt writes that they are "also accepting gift cards to Target, Old Navy, Gap, etc. to help Jody begin rebuilding her wardrobe and to purchase toiletries and other essentials." There will be live music and The Modular food truck on site, which will be donating all proceeds to help Stevens. More info on that event here.

That same Sunday, Down House/D&T Drive Inn owner Chris Cusack tells us that Down House will be hosting a "Build Your Own Milk Punch Bar" workshop presented by Down House head bartender Jeremy Olivier and guest bartender Aaron Lara from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. All tips from that event will go to help Stevens. Additionally, May 5 through May 11, both Down House and D&T Drive Inn will offer a wine cocktail special with 100% of the proceeds from that special extended discount going directly to Stevens.
