Montrose's Lucky Burger is Closing Down for Good

Sad news for longtime Montrose residents: Lucky Burger is closing this Saturday. Swamplot reports that "when a partnership controlled by Braun Enterprises purchased 50,000 sq. ft. at the corner of Richmond and Mandell 3 years ago, company president Dan Braun told the Chronicle they'd likely wait out the leases on the property." It appears that the agreement includes The Harp and Maria Selma's—which both, like Lucky Burger, saw rental rate increases this year—and Lucky Burger's lease is up. (Note: The Harp and Maria Selma aren't closing and have recently renewed their leases, despite the increased rent.) Another recent Montrose shutter, Dirk's Coffee, was also speculated to have closed because it was priced out of the neighborhood by developers looking to capitalize on Montrose's changing demographic. While Lucky Burger was never noted as being among the top burger joints in town, it was undeniably a part of the old-Montrose landscape, an unassuming mom-and-pop with a colorful barrel sign that was well-known to locals.

Swamplot also reports that "a new craft beer bar called Revelry on Richmond is already going in at the former Orange Bar space immediately west of Lucky Burger."
