Another Austin-based chain is continuing its mass Houston expansion, and no, it's not another Torchy's. The downtown location of Snap Kitchen is set to open this June in the food court at The Shops at Houston Center (map at right). Just in time for summer, the eatery caters to the health-conscious by serving up classic dishes turned low-cal options, think deviled eggs filled with hummus instead of mayo and cauliflower instead of bread. This new outpost will be a grab-and-go option for the downtown lunchtime crowd seeking healthy, chef-driven fast food. The menu changes seasonally but always has vegan, gluten-free, paleo, vegetarian and sugar-free options on offer.

Marketing director Daniel Helfman said, "Since opening in the downtown tunnel system last year, the downtown community has really embraced the concept for its quick, healthy dining and we look forward to moving to The Shops and earning the same kind of loyalty."

The Shops at Houston Center location will be open Monday through Thursday from 7 am until 6 pm; Friday from 7 am until 4 pm; Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm. Currently, there are other locations in Upper Kirby, Rice Military, Tanglewood, Bellaire, One Allen Center's Downtown Tunnels, and Shepherd Plaza.
