Bruce Molzan is causing a stir again. According to CultureMap, the chef and restaurateur who opened Corner Table in late 2012 has left that popular River Oaks establishment. To some in the local food scene, the name Bruce Molzan is better associated with controversy than with upscale Paleo fare. In 2011, the waitstaff at Molzan's previous establishment, Ruggles Grill, alleged unpaid tips and staged a walkout at the now-defunct Montrose eatery. There haven't been any labor disputes of that nature at Corner Table, although the disgruntled Ruggles employees did stage a protest there in early 2013, and in August a Corner Table valet driver accidentally killed a motorcyclist.
No word yet on where Molzan where go next; the restaurant's representatives say that his departure is amicable and that they will announce the new chef on Wednesday.
