Houston Beer Fest This Weekend; Wine at La Carafe

BEER HERE— June 7 and 8, Sam Houston Park downtown will be awash with suds because Houston Beer Fest is back. There will be live music, food vendors and, of course, several breweries doling out pours of cold beer. More info at the official website. Buy tickets here. [Eaterwire]

BRUNCH WIRE— There are some new brunch services in town: Piatto's two locations are now serving brunch Saturdays and Sundays, including the newly opened Heights outpost. Nara is now serving brunch with $15 half-liter carafes of Soju Mimosas and Spicy Cucumber Kimchi Bloody Marys. Glass Wall is jumping on the brunch wagon Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m .to 3 p.m., and one of chef Jorge Rodriguez's menu highlights is a Lobster & Eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon and chipotle hollandaise. DOWNTOWN— Head to downtown's historic La Carafe (813 Congress) Thursday (June 5) for a wine and cheese pairing event in collaboration with French Country Wines. The cost is $15 per person for cheese and crackers from Angela's Oven as well as glasses of Camille Rosé and Domaine Gueissard Rosé, plus Petit Caboche Rosé from the Rhône Valley.
