Mongoose & Slow Dough Owners to Open Midtown Spot

Hopefully by this fall, Midtown will welcome a new food and drink place that merges some of the best talent in the city. Bar owner Ian Rosenberg and his Mongoose Versus Cobra/13 Celsius business partner Mike Sammons have gathered a culinary team that includes Slow Dough Bread Co.'s Heath Wendell and Brown Paper Chocolates' Richard Kaplan for an upcoming Midtown food complex comprised of a restaurant, bakery and bar called Weights + Measures. CultureMap reports that that the new establishment "will take over the front half of the building, while the back half is already occupied by The Metropolitan Dance Company," and that it should open some time around mid-September.

The menu at the 150-seat eatery will be composed by Kaplan, with Sammons taking the lead on the bar program. This will mark the debut of Wendell's Slow Dough Bread Co. retail shop, the first for this wildly popular company which supplies several local restaurants with fresh, locally baked bread. (Think Good Dog's addictive pretzel rolls.) There's also the possibility that Wendell will expand Slow Dough to Austin sometime in the future.
