Will it or won't it? After CultureMap reported that Italian spot Osteria Mazzantini would serve its last dinner this Saturday night, it appears that owner John Sheely has contacted told the outlet, simply, "We are staying open. No further comments." Sheely, who opened Mazzantini in September, previously told the Chron that they "couldn't maintain the volume to pay the Galleria-area rents."
The restaurateur reportedly said that Green Cafe Management made him an offer he couldn't refuse and that the management group, which owns Ruggles Green, would name its new establishment Ruggles Kitchen and have controversial chef Bruce Molzan at its helm. Molzan recently left Corner Table and had been set to launch a new venture at the old Nosh Bistro space, where he'd partner with Nosh founder Neera Patidar on a new concept. No word yet on how these strange developments will shift in the week to come. Watch this space for an update.
