There's a new pastry chef joining the staff at upcoming JW Marriott eatery Main Kitchen & 806 Lounge. According to the Chronicle's Greg Morago, Uchi's Sharon Gofreed will fill the spot vacated by pastry chef Plinio Sandalio, who previously left Austin's Carillon to lead the pastry division at Main Kitchen & 806 Lounge before partnering up with chef Adam Dorris at upcoming Montrose restaurant Pax Americana.
Gofreed, who trained at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Austin, has been a part of the Uchi and Uchiko group for the past two years. She will develop the seasonal dessert menus and bread program for the restaurant, which is slated to launch in September 2014. Gofreed will team up with former Plonk! and Clumsy Butcher chef Erin Smith at this upcoming downtown destination.
