Bad news for popular Houston restaurant Haven and its raw bar Cove: Both establishments will close at 2502 Algerian way. The Chronicle reports that "Haven will be sold to the owner of The Union Kitchen [Paul Miller] who plans to turn the space into an upscale, chef-driven restaurant overseen by Paul Lewis, formerly of Osteria Mazzantini and Cullen's." After five years of Gulf Coast cooking, Haven has become a popular destination for those seeking farm-to-table fare; it has also been the training grounds for some of some of Houston's best restaurant industry names, including Roost/Lillo & Ella chef/owner Kevin Naderi.

No word yet on where Haven chef/owner Randy Evans or Cove chef Philippe Gaston will head next, but expect locals to follow them to their next establishments. Both chefs have become fixtures in the local dining scene, and Gaston's work at Cove landed that restaurant-within-a-restaurant space a spot on the Eater Essential 38 map. Haven and Cove's last services are expected to be tonight.
