El Cantina Superior In the Heights Is Temporarily Closed

While the Heights area's youngest newcomer The El Cantina Superior just opened softly about a month ago, rumors were circulating that the place had already closed for good. Some locals noticed that the Tex-Mex spot hadn't been open for a few days, and yesterday Eater received two separate emails telling us that the restaurant is definitely closed, one of those read: "The El Cantina Superior is kaput. Ignore the sign on the door that reads, 'Please accept our apologies, but we are temporarily CLOSED due to utility issues.' My source who is in the biz says the decision was made last week."

Owner Ken Bridge— who also owns Pink's Pizza, Lola, Shepherd Park Draught House and Witchcraft Tavern & Provisions—told Eater that it's not true: "It's just a gas leak on our end. We will however, take advantage of this downtime." An employee at The El said that they expect to re-open at the end of this week. Check the Facebook page for that announcement.
